Mata Vaishno Devi History - Few Myths & Facts


There are various myths surrounding Vaishno Devi trip. Some believe that the Mata VaishnoDevi temple was constructed by the pandvas to show their gratitude. 
This theory of Vaishno Devi trip is supported by the presence of 5 stone structures located in Trikuta mountain overlooking the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. 
Other stories that people hear about the place when they go on Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage Tour is that the name of the goddess and shrine was first mentioned by Krishna during battle of Mahabharata where he said “Jambookatak Chityaishu Nityam Sannihitalaye’ or the goddess that resides on a mountain in Jamboo which could be modern day Jammu.
Other stories surrounding mata Vaishno Devi trip suggest that the temple is dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi who was born as a beautiful girl to a childless couple in Southern India, Ratnakar Sagar. She was born as a blessing of Mata lakshmi, Saraswati and Kali.
Mata Vaishno Devi was asked by lord rama to pray in the Trikuta Mountains and pleased by her devotion immortalized in her form of the temple that we visit today during Vaishno Devi Pilgrimage Tour.a
